I was having a conversation with a buddy of mine and we came along to this altercation... He said that Slp took ss camaro's and made them into Slp SS camaro...If this is true could someone please tell me any info on where they did this and what modifacations they did to the cars. Thanks Jason

Every Camaro SS from 96-02 went to SLP to get turned into a SS. There were optional SLP options for the SS that were available, and people usually consider cars with all those options "SLP SS's", but they are still a Camaro SS with optional SLP content.

HOLY BOLD HUGE TEXT BATMAN!!!

On the serious side DMNSPD is right. All super sports were sent to slp. They generally received an exhaust and a lid. They are refered to as SLP SS by people that want to sound special, or dont know all SSs are slp SSs.

Most didn't get the lid as the lid was only offered on the 02's as an option.

from what i remember, starting in '99(i believe) only SS cars with extra SLP options went to SLP for conversion, there is a certain RPO code for those that went to SLP. i think the original question is if SLP took an SS and made it into a Firehawk equivilant with 345hp. i dunno much about that part though.

Nope, every SS went to SLP.

SLP has two sites. They have their main headquarters in Tom's River, NJ, and their conversion plant that was near the f-body plant in Canada.

Every SS went to SLP. A base SS got a hood w/scoop and a special rear spoiler. At that time other SLP items could be added.

not true, all SS Camaros were sent to slp in 96 and 97. After that Chevy made them in house making the same 320/325 hp that the ws6 made. The only Camaros that went to SLP after 97 were the Camaro equivalent to Firehawks.

and the ones with other SLP extras such as the better exhaust, floor mats, or synthetic fluid stuff (what my SS has, and it has a SLP sticker in the door)

This is absolutely not true. If the SS didn't go to SLP, then why does every single SS have a SLP build number? My car has NO Y2Y options, yet I called SLP up, and they gave me all the info. Just like how the WS6 went to ASC, the SS goes to SLP for Y2Y and NON Y2Y conversion.

Each and every SS went to slp. They all got the appearance package, many of them received extra goodies including shifters, lids, and exhausts. The later were options you had to order specially.

Y2Y must be the one for extra SLP options

Exactly. That's why SLP sells take off parts like wheels and stock Z28 exhaust.
