Default gear spacer?

Ok, I'm trading my old wheels for a set of 4.10s and I'm talking to this guy who will sell me a Zexel for $120, I have a series 3 and the zexel is for a series 2.

Does using the spacer have any negative affects? If not, I can just get the spacer and use the zexel. Or should I just hold out for another diff.?

The spacer is going to run 40-45 bucks

Spacers weaken the rear. The longer bolts are weaker, and the ring gear is supposed to be a press fit to the case, with the spacer it is not.

it is said to be weaker, i was wondering the same thing so i asked a guy who does rearends for a living and races. he said he has one in his 69 camaro right now, and i've seen it run low 10's. so i'm gunna use one and see where it gets me.
