Default Help me cut 1.30's instead of 1.50's (Fbody)

I need some help with the suspension, I'm tired of spinning to 1.50's. Here's what I've got:

T56, 9"
Stock springs on all four
HAL's in the back, stock shocks up front
BMR non-adj LCA's and adj PHR
Spohn rear drag bar (the big one)

I'm going to get a Spohn tq arm and probably HAL's up front. What else do I need to maximize the setup? Air bags? Front Drag springs? What's a good investment, what's a waste of time?

R series up front with their springs. if you got the scratch go for something like an afco or strange shock, the double adjustables like that.

i would personally not run the spohn tq arm. i'd look into either the bmr extreme like i have or the madman. i've just never been a spohn tq arm fan in terms of fitment and quality with the ones i've seen my friends use. whatever you do, just make sure it doesn't connect to teh trans anymore and is adjustable.

i assume your rear drag bar is adjustable, if so, don't bother with airbags IMO, bar does the trick..after some testing if you think you still need them then ok. i don't use airbags, i use my drag bar to keep the car straight.

some weight off the front end like a K frame if you don't have it doen already would be a good investment.

Thanks for the help SilverGhost, I think I'll pony up the extra dough for the BMR tq arm. I'll sleep better at night going with the more proven piece. As for the double adjustables, how does it really help in a drag racing application? Is it worth the extra cash?

Fireball- these 28" D05 Hoosier's seem to be a pretty sticky tire, hopefully they'll do their job.

I agree with the Ghost and Fireball-You need front shocks, a new torque arm, and some good tires. I would suggest double adj. shocks for the rear of the car-the double adj. shocks help you control how hard the rearend is pulled out of the chassis and toward the pavement; and also how fast it recovers after it hits. Do a search on shocks or shock adjustment in this forum-there was a good post awhile back explaining how the rear suspension works-Madman had a good explanation of this.

How much does the car weigh? Lets not forget-practice and tuning as well. It'll take you a while but you should get it figured out. How much power is the car making-it takes a few ponies to put an fbody into the 1.3x's. I've had good results with the Hoosiers when my car was an auto, but most stick cars I've dealt with like the M/t et drags, or goodyears-Good luck

Talking

I didn't have luck with the 28" Hoosiers in the past.

M/Ts always hooked better for me. a 28x10.5 tire will probably keep you in the 1.4 range...a very high 1.3x at best on a good day at a good track with super prep.

To go deep in the 1.3s the Futral S/R car went with the 28.5x10.5W tire. I bought a set and they are enormous

but require some serious hacking up of the wheelwell to get them to fit.

also you need to make the car lighter....a heavier car will have a harder time leaving (F=ma)...simple physics.

To cut a 1.3 sixty foot you don't need anything more than a 9" slick.

I like my spohn, been good so far. We'll see what I can muster for a 60 foot this spring once the 12 bolt and cam are in, and see how the tq arm likes it. 6000 clutch dump, here I come.
