i have a 3500 stal on mine. when i went to a couple of shops to get it installed, they swore up and down that i dont need it and that it would hurt the car, needless to say i did not have them install it, when i did have it installed it was the best thing i have done to my car to this point. DO IT

wow, that's exactly what I just went through about 3 or 4 days ago. FIND A NEW SHOP. After recieving quotes of 600 and 500, I finally found a shop that is going to do the install for 200. They came very highly recommended to me from a guy who had a built GN and a guy on sembmusclecar.com

A 3500 stall converter isn't a bad idea, but going to a garage where the mechanic thinks so IS.
Find a performance-oriented garage where the guys work on more than mini-vans and beaters and where they'll actually know what they're talking about when they open their mouths about speed parts.

EDIT: Just to clean up the air, APE did not tell me this was a bad idea. I believe they are a good shop, and from what I hear does very competent work.
