Wow, you have 61 cc, 11/1 cr and no flycutting? Maybe I'm thinking too small. What springs?

it only takes a milling of ~.015 to get 11.1 CR w/ a stock gasket and 5.3 head. leaves you with a decent amount of ptv clearance.

i'd recommend an FM13'ish cam myself.

JRP, so you're saying that I could go to like .600 lift and say 233 duration and still have ~.100-.080 PV clearance? And not have to worry?

You should always check p/v whenever you go bigger than stock. FWIW if your heads are milled and you have a 2.02 valve the MS3 will need to be flycut to fit. I'm doing mine very shortly and can tell you how much I flycut.

Vortech, I was looking at the Comp 228/230 .571/.573 112 lsa which uses the XE lobes. I know there are no PV issues with that cam. What I would really like to install is the 228/230 .588/.592 112+2 which uses the XER lobe. In your opinion would there be plenty of PV? I just don't want the valves anywhere near the piston tops.

Bro I wish I could give you a definite answer but I can't. I know with my AS heads with the 228/230 cam there was alot of clearance-over .100 thou. BUT my heads were unmilled and I used the factory .060 MLS gasket. The XER 228/230 would have less advertised duration so it may work BUT I don't want to say yes or no without checking. FWIW talking to Allan at Futral the F13 will clear with .015 thou milled using a .040 gasket and a 2.02 valve. Another thing to note is Jay's valve length my be different than stock. Dude buy a cam your comfortable with and just check it-flycutting is no big deal. It's alot cheaper and easier than repairing your motor and heads.

I don't suppose it is possible to fly cut the pistons with the pistons still in the block? If so, can it be done in the car?

Of course it can be done on the car-I'm doing it right now. Go to FFHP's web site he shows you how to do it.

I say the f13 would be good for you or even the f11 if you dont want to take a chance. they are both great cams. H0wever the cam you list will perform well too.
