V6 Fbody springs vs V8 Springs is it worth the swap?
I am going to install a 12bolt rearend soon and seen that the F body V6 springs are popular for drag racing for the LS1 F bodys. Like most others I drive it on the Street, I realize I have to give up some ride, but how much??
Does it really pay for 60s on the Track, and is there any tire rub out of the hole? I have all the BMR stuff except the Torque arm so far. Rest of my set up is in my sig.
Anything better than V6 springs out there??
Thanks,
Speedo

I'm curious to know where those spring rates came from. From what I remember GM changed the front spring rate (softer) for the LS1's due to the lighter weight compared to the LT1.

I'd run factory springs in the back. A softer spring in the *** isn't the answer. Soft in front, stiff in back.
I'd like to know where the numbers posted came from too. I figured an iron block would have more than a 300# or so spring. I was thinking more like 315 or 325.

I have a WS6, so I have the super stiff springs. I swapped my rear springs for early V6 springs. I haven't been to the track with it yet, but I actually like the ride on the street better. Not quite as bone jarring. I can't tell that big a difference in handling.

back in '99 and 2000 at the US Nats in Indy..I questioned several of the stock eliminator boys about springs..they were running the stiffest available stock spring in the rear and the stock v-6 springs in the front...they agreed at that time.. that was the very best combo..even better than the trick springs that were available..
