Default 4l60e woes

Hello, Long time listener first time poster....

Ok this has been driving me nuts for a while now,
Just about every time my transmission shifts from 2-3rd gear regaurdless of
what speed, or under what load, it makes this thump noise. Kinda sounds like
a universal joint but it only does it on the 2-3rd shift, it doesnt happen any
other time while driving. I could be accelerating go through first, then second
& let off the gas totally(engine running at idle speed) before it goes into 3rd,
that it still does the thump, or knock... (noise and feeling..)

The tranny fluid is fine full, clean, doesnt smell burnt or anything. Is it
possible some of the cluth bands/packs w/e are somehow worn? or are
slipping while engaging the gear?

Also, If I have it in park with my foot off the brake, & all the wieght resting
against the tranny It makes this whirling, scraping kinda noise. Its hard to
describe in words. With this and another Vibration Im getting in OD lockup at
low rpms (get a vibration only in 4th lockup, you can feel through the gas pedal at about 50-57mph. Goes away if the engine speeds up fast or slows
down) I was told it sounds like I have a cracked flexplate . Can anyone
relate to this. I jsut wanna fingure out the problem.

Btw, it was rebuilt in the summer of 2003. has about 20k on
it since then.

I read on another forum that its possble the TC can be out
of balance? is this possible..or what causes it?

Please help me...

thanks

I read something a long time ago that I can't remember much detail about, but it created a symptom similar to what you're describing. Ask whoever rebuilt your transmission if they flipped something upside down inside the trans to help it make crisper shifts. From what I remember, it isn't exactly GOOD for your tranny, but it isn't all that destructive either.

have you checked the mounts. I had a nice thud going on in my old 94 formula could not figure it out just on the 3-4 shift turned out to be the rear tranny mount. Could be driveshaft? Dont really know just some possible things to check into.

Check; Trans mount, LCA bolts, exhaust, heatshields, & Drive shaft
