Default Guys I am new here and I need some advice.

I have a 1957 chevy pickup. I purchased a Ford 9 inch rearend for it. And just recently purchased a 98 Chevy Camaro LS1 motor and 4L60E tranny. I also got the aluminum driveshaft with it as well. Now I am looking to put a cam in this motor but I would like it to still be streetable. As this will be my daily driver soon. I have been looking at the G5X3 cam but I have no clue as to what to put in it. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you are going to want a cam with a good bit more lowend torque, since you have a heavier vehicle and its going to be your daily driver. The G5X3 is a bit more of a top-end race cam(but by no means a track only cam). i would think a 224, or a 228 cam would be a good strong choice there. also looking into getting an LS6 intake, as that will help her get air into the motor as well.

My cam has plenty of low end torque, I think you should get it!

Seriously, I agree with the 224 idea, but get it on a 112 rather than a 114 LSA so it peaks earlier. Long tube headers would be worth while even if you have to do some modification or fabrication to get them to fit.

I guess I should have stated that the rear end has a posi unit in it and it also has 3.00 gears in it. The reason that the gears are so high is because it has 25.68 inch tall tires. 315x35x17's. Dont know if that will matter or not but it might.

Stock weight with it as it was 4500 pounds. Since then it has received a short bed frame. The heavy 250 straight 6 was removed and the huge mud tires were removed. The motor and tranny now weighs considerably less then what the original did. I am guessing closer to 4000 pounds.
