Default I want to go high 10's/low11's

Hey guys I want to go high 10's/ low 11's for just over $4,500 N/A, is it possible??

Here is my starting point, I have a 1998 block Tran Am A4 WS6. The car has a 6.0 LQ4 block with 241 heads with comp cams 918 springs, LS6 intake, Ported Shaner S3 throttle body, 28.8 lb injectors, and a 218/204 Z06 cam. It has a stock tranny, stock rear end, and stock everything else on the engine. It has the Slp loudmouth cat back coming from a off road ceramic coatted y pipe, stock exhaust manifolds, stock 1600 tq converter, with brand new Nitto DR's and last, but not least, I have the stock drive shaft.

So guys what do I need to run mid - high 10's/ low 11's NA. I would love FI, but I only have $4,500.

Thanks in advance.

do the installs yourself....that saves a lot of money

New exhaust from headers back
lighten it up
4000+ stall converter
trans cooler
tranny temp gauge
gears
a pretty decent sized cam (230+)
maybe even a set of ported heads
drag wheels
sticky tires out back
a good suspension setup
and tune it

those are just off the top of my head, I'm sure someone else can chime in with more ideas

OK thanks so far guys so this is what I am thinking.
Will a Moser 9 bolt, with a auto that can handle up to 600 RWHP, 3600 SC, 4.11 gears, steel drive shaft, DR's, sfc's, panhard bar, BMR Tq arm, and maybe a H/C package do it??

Don't go 4.11s with an A4. I've been warned about this from my tranny guy. Anyway, 3.73 are about perfect with an A4.

thanks for the tip man, will do, I just was buying a 9' with 4:10's already in it, but I think I will try and get a 12 bolt. Also how big of a cam do I need.

Stay with the 9" if possible, just change the gears. 9" ford gears are CHEAP. Or you could just trade center sections with somebody.

u dont really need to do all that, get a 4000-4400 converter, and dont go cheap there.. a set of 3.73's to 4.10's in a 12 bolt.. thats about 3 grand, the car already has some motor mods so see wehre u stand at this point on a good set of tires.. definetly a mid 11 second capable car at this point even with the stock motor.. then look at some of these bolton/ cam only car in the low 11's or high 10's.. they all have the rear, and the converter, but see what else there doing. a 3100 lb racewieght doesn't hurt either!

thanks for all of the great tips, I have decided to get a Moser 9' and it comes with 4.10's, so should I keep those or opt for some 3.73's? Also Wouldn't a good tranny with a shift kit be a good idea along with a 4-4400 SC? I have the Nitto 555R EXtreme Drag Radials now. Also do I need to upgrade my drive shaft? What suspension parts are a must with this much power. Remember, I only have $4,500 and then another $750 to pay someone to install everything.

So here we go up again.

Also I know what I need, I just need someone to tell me it will get me into the 10's.

12 bolt or 9" with 3.73

4000 stall converter

4L60 E performance tranny (can handle up to 600 RWHP)

Stock drive shaft

bigger cam

need to know what kind of cam I need ( I have 241 heads with comp cams 918 springs) also do I need better heads??

Nitto 555 DR's

Weight reduction of back seats, spare tire and jack, what else can I do. I just put some brand new rotors n the front and they weighed a ton. What other weight reductions can I do to a daily driver???

You will most likely need an et street or et drag radial. at least. A TCI 3600+ converter, they can recommend a good NITROUS converter. With a 150 snort, and a small to medium size cam, proper tuning, a low 1.5x sixty or better, pull the front swaybar and don't worry about the stock suspension. That should get you there or dang close. I would say you need 15in wheels with skinnies in the front to make sure. You may need to play with the gear ratio.

I'm thinking that a 3500 lb. car has to make around 520rwhp to run 10.9xs at 2500 DA in Arkansas, and I'm not sure that your proposed setup can do that.

ok thanks for the help, I will just go with a Moser 9', 3.73 gears, and bigger cam, and probably a small supercharger like a 6 lbs. powerdyne, plus a 4,000 stall from Fuddle, thanks.
