Plan on it breaking eventually. The 60E doesn't stand up to much abuse in stock form in an F-body, add 2000lbs of extra weight and they puke even faster.
Most of the truck guys wioth FI move up to a built 4L65E or do a 4L80E swap. I'm going the later route on both my trucks.

HI all
Tanks for your input.
I hear there is a kit to build a 4L 65e out of your 4L60e?
What did the 65s come in and how do you tell them apart?
Not a job for every one I have seen trans people work with lots of special tools.
Tanks for the help, I see I am not the only one with this concern.

The 65Es come on the specialty trucvks like the SS Silverado.
Not sure where you can buy the upgrade parts. i do know that FLP sells built ones and the SS Silverado guys use them so they don't lose their AWD like they would with a 4L80E.

TH400 + GV. You truck guy's have the space to easily install it. This combo is about the same price as a 4L80 swap, but; It's more efficient than a 4L80e, Can actually have more "gears" because you can do 1st/1st over, 2nd/2nd over.....etc. The only thing you would have to find is a manual lock-up switch for a Lock-up TC. I've seen them before, but can't find them now. I know I use to see them on the Precision Page (vigilante Convertors)
That Combo should handel it all. My friends Dodge has this combo. He got the Precision lock-up stall and switch. A blown 454 (8-71) (yes a Chevy Drivetrain in a Dodge), with a TH400+GV unit. 1400 HP/ 1250 FT/lbs through it. Paid roughly $4700 for the Combo and it just won't die.
