Default Swap rod bolts in a C5 in car?

Can the rod bolts be swapped in a C5 with just dropping the pan? Thanks!

I did it in a Z28. I don't see why not. You wil need to remove the pickup tube and the windage tray. Once those are out of the way it's easy, just pull one out put one in. I think the Vette pans are easier to get off than the F body.

Probaly be able to jack the motor up enough to get to them... not to bad in an ls1 car but never worked on or been around a c5 being worked on. I know its a whole nother ball game.

If you can get the pan off you can do the rod bolt swap. It will be hard to get the strech gauge on the bolts sence the K-member will be in the way.

In the camaros I've been around and mine that was done we just dropped the k member a bit, and jacked the motor up using the tranny, had plenty of room to get a torque wrench on all the rod bolts.

Very worthwhile mod too if you plan on spinning anywhere near 7k on an otherwise stock bottom end, my motors had them in for over 2k, and a bunch of trips to 7k either off the rev limiter or by shifting and its holding up fine.

Pff you used a TQ wrench i would not trust that motor. YOu need to have a stretch gauge on the bolts so you get the Rod bolts to the proper tention.

Right. Well.. Alan @ Futral, and even ARP recommended a torque wrench. Torque to 40 3 times to get the proper stretch.

We are all wrong tho.... you are gods mechanic.
