Default Help with mounting new Y2K rims?

I have been calling all of the local shops and most of them say they don't want to mess with my car. I have a 98 vette and I am trying to have a set of 17 & 18 inch Y2Ks mounted on. The chevy dealer wants $25 a rim plus stem and balancing. Sounds kind of crazy to me?

What the hell is the matter with all of these places??? This is bullshit. Why can't customers just get things done. You have the same car as a Y2K. Why can't they just put them on? Stem and balancing is normal, but in addition to $25 each??? That's ridiculous.

I know! Must of the places around have flat out told me that they don't want to mess with my car. They say they have the conventional tire mounting machines that aren't really designed for bigger sized rims.

alot of places dont want to mess with the y2k's bc they think they have the pressure sensors and such that some factory vettes have..they told me that one time and i told them i didnt have the sensors and they were like ok..

the actual reason is that tire places and dealerships charge more money to mount run-flat tires,is because of the stiff sidewall, they also require the use of a rim lock tire machaine as opposed to the older style.i use to work for goodyear and they used to give the same bs line to all guys with vettes, or anything with 17" or bigger. so basical they charge more money because its a corvette, and they can.

Run flats are tricky and special care/attention/machines are needed to install tires on 18" wheels . . . unless Discount Tire was blowing air up my butt . . .
