Corvette Performance - Best Streetable Cam?
I want to make some good power this summer! I dont have the ducketts for heads and cam, but I will try and do just cam. What is a really good streetable cam? I know I will have to tune and everything, I just dont want it to be to much of a bitch (Idle, Surging issues). I also want to make some good RWHP & TQ!!!! :burn:
What you guys think? I have an 02' C5 w/ Bolt Ons

Honestly, just call up a local shop (or the one you're going to get the tune from) and have them grind you a custom cam. Be sure to tell em exactly what you want from a cam, and they should be able to make you up one, or point you in the right direction no problem. :)

Novi, I have a LPE GT2-3 cam that has a little over 3,000 miles on it. The cam specs are 207/220 dur .573/.580 lift on a 117.5 lobe sep. This cam will you give you a stock idle, I mean bone stock no different that yours right now. This cam is excellent for na or forced induction. I'm asking $300 for it. Let me know, Jason

This is a hard question to answer.
I think a trex (244/249 109.5lsa) is very streetable. (in an auto)
Alot of what determines streetability reflects on a good tuner
The point is whats streetable to one guy is not to the next.
I think its safe to say that the f13 and the LGX2 cams are both really streetable cams.

I would recommend the ZO6 cam. GM part #12565308 (204/218 .555/.551 117.5 LSA.)

this is very tiny cam .. its not worht it to pay for , however , he has a plenty of after market cams .
I prefer cams like these on this kind of setup :
# TSP Custom 224R Cam: 224/224, .581"/.581", 114 LSA
or
# TSP Custom-Grind 231/237 Camshaft: 231/237, .598"/.595", 112 LSA
I tried both of them they r all good cams both dyno more than 400hp with few setups ... headers , pulley , .....etc

I have the X1 from MTI (230/228 on a 112) Nice and lopey, sounds like there is a cam in there, car shakes at idle. Drives perfectly. It produced 43 RWHP and 41 Torque on my Z06. I'd either get it or the G1, its slightly smaller. As someone said previously, don't go to small. There is no sense in opening up your engine for minimal gains, its simply not worth it.
Choosing a cam is a pain in the ass and I wish you luck. If you do end up going the route of using a Z06 cam, PM me. I have all the parts you will need, cheap!

By a large margin the t.r. 224 cam is the most popular cam there is. most of the guys either have or started out with this cam.I was new to the ls1 world when I installed the one in sig.(was good for 30 rwhp) and wanted something mild not knowing the 224 cam on a 114 would have been perfect for me.It might help if you knew someone that has a cam in there car to go out and listen to it. Streetable is very objectionable. IMHO I went to mild!!!

I would go with the LGM g5X3 on a 114LSA. It is a great compromise between streetability and power. There are many ZO6s well over 400rwhp with cam only and other boltons. Call Lou at LGM. He will spend time with you on the phone and school you on what specs do for you in relation to what you want. Good Luck.

I'm running this one and love it. My car with LG long tubes and AFR 205s made 415rwhp and 400rwtq running out of injector.
Awesome driveablity and decent idle:D

Yes, true, probably not worth the money over a larger cam, but very streetable, no idle problems as his prerequisite, and with little ducketts to work with, here is the deal for summer fun. A larger cam like the TR would need new more rubust chromemoly pushrods, and might as well upgrade those springs while your there $$. I have a ZO6 cam lubed, in the box, I also have the 271lb/in. LS6 valve springs in the box, 20K on them, if he is interested in saving alot of money. They have been treated faithfully with Mobile 1 5W-30 since new, so they are in excellent condition. I was thinking of throwing it in my Silverado, but if he wants them, I could help him out. PM me Novi if you are interested. I will sell all for less than the cost of a new 224/224 114 LSA cam. Most likely, your 7.4" pushrods can be reused. A net gain of 50hp with headers and +100hp gain over a stock LS1 when you get the ducketts for heads and pushrods, you could also do a larger cam then. The worst part of a Corvette cam install is getting the steering rack back in and reconnecting the high pressure lines with little room to tighten them down.
The rest is pretty straightfoward. There is alittle method to my madness..........

I first need to say hello to all. I am over here from Z-land. I actually joined today with a thought of selling one of my cams. I have a X1 (230/227) with a little over 4800K on it. Also have a set of comp 921"s and ti. retainers with same mileage. If your interested let me know what you think is a fair price.
Take care, J

I was looking for the same thing. Although considered here to be mile, my short list was:
TR 224
TR Old Man Cam
LPE GT2-3
MTI Stealth II
Vinci Boss II
I don't want to lose my low end, since the car spends most of its time there. I would love a lopey idle, but am concerned with the evironmental police.
You need to further refine what you are looking for, a budget and then the number of cams on your list will start to shrink so you can make a decision.
Good luck.

We are on the right track for Novi, we have two cams and two sets of valve springs for him that he could buy from one of us. The problem is we have one smaller cam, bigger than what he has, and one larger one that may be alittle aggressive for his preferences. He is all set with an excellent choice of springs from J.N.F. or myself. Does anyone have a cam in between the ZO6 cam and J.N.F.'s X1 that they could sell Novi that is not a 112LSA, but a 114 like the TR? I keep thinking though, any cam in between, Novi will need better pushrods, so it will be hard to spare him that expense unless someone has a set. It is all speculation at this point until we hear from Novi.
You need to further refine what you are looking for, a budget and then the number of cams on your list will start to shrink so you can make a decision. Good luck.
I couldn't agree more! Hey Novi!!!!
Many good cams have been mentioned on this thread however, I assume that someone else is going to do the cam swap for you, right? I would find a good tuner in your area that you trust and use his suggestion on a camshaft, since he is the one that will be tuning it. BTW I run a 224/228 112 and have been very happy with it.

224/224 .563 114lsa with dual crane spring kit...
I've got about 12 k miles on the car with this kit(34K total on car) and its a nice baby cam...
Great everyday driver and nice improvement in performance.
I'm very pleased with the choice I made. I'd recommend it to any one describing they want a performance improvement and to still have a great daily driver.
Hope this helps...
