Default OK cam for daily driver?

Comp Cams XER 230/230, it has a .591"/.591" 110 LSA
Don't know a lot about cams. Can anyone explain the numbers to me? Good for a bolt-on daily driver? The car is an A4 with a Yank 3200 stall and tuning. I can get more tuning if needed....

I would look elsewhere, something smaller and with a 112-114 LSA.

IMO, that isn't a good DD cam...where are your torque & rpm peaks going to be with that cam?

And an auto? If you really have an auto daily driver, you will be saddened at the lacking low-end power where your engine will spend most of its time.

In reality, that is a pretty stout cam. Maybe as a weekend driver to the track and back.

Daily driver for an auto, something like a 220/220 on 114-116 LSA would give you a nice torque increase, and bump up your HP a good bit too.

Looking to get 385-400 RWHP out of a cam and bolt-on's. What about a 224/224 or something? Is that cam going to make the kind of power I want? Or do I need to go bigger? I know I need springs and stuff, plus I'll be replacing my rockers with some roller type at the same time.

Check out FM11, MTI X1 etc..............but no less than a 112lsa and preferably 114 if in the 230 duration range.
With the stall you have, I would say a 224/228

I would say you would be fine with everything but the LSA, i used to run a 110 around and it loped pretty hard. I would get a cam ground on a 114 or so, and like everyone else said dont overlook your valvetrain!

You need a higher stall converter to enjoy that cam.

Default Cam sugg....

Take a close look at the Thunder Racing TR 224/224 - 112 or 114. These cams have been proven over and over again. I had a 224 on a 114 and was quite happy with it. Gobs of TQ for a DD, pulled good all the way up, and made nice numbers. Stock heads, stock intake, no pulley and LT's w/ a good exhaust. Car was really driveable and you could feel it in the 'seat-o-the pants' meter. At the TR Southern Shootout my 4000 lb car, no intake, small vert, and long tubes only ran 12.6 @ 109 all weekend. Says alot about the cam. There's faster, more modded cars, but this was a daily driven car and made nice runs w/ 3.23 gears.
Any of the sponsors here are going to give you good advice on selecting a cam. Use search ( JRP) and look at some of the info on there. You are the only one that can decide what is driveable and what you can live with everyday. Daily Driver is truely a subjective term with these cars. Everyone has different needs and expectations of their rides. I bumped up in a cam profile even though I was happy with the 224. I liked the cam, but figured, what the heck, try something different. I have more top end now, but I also have raw fuel smell burning in my nasal passages every day.....I love it...lol.
Just my .02
Have Fun,
Kev

Thanks for all the advice guys! I KNOW the smallest cam I will go with is the 224/224 and I will not be going much bigger than that. I will be doing this sometime the end of April and I will post up what I went with and what the gains were......
