LE2 LT1 vs: 400rwhp LS1
Both of my friends have have these cars, and this is how the race went last night.
LS1 jumped out in first a car, LT catches up to the door by second, third gear LT's nose is on the LS's fender, fourth gear nose to nose. TIE!!! at 130mph
Lt was coming on slow, but still coming, on 2.73 gears!!(4.10's in two weeks, along with a 58tb)
LT1- 97TA m6 2.73's, LE2 heads cam,headers, 3500race weight
LS1-00 Formula m6 3.42's ported heads, cam, headers,3550 race weight (DYNOED 400.8hp 395TW)
Needless to say the LS was not happy, that the LT kept up so well

How does it have 2.73 gears and an M6 trans? The only year that could happen was 1993 and even then all Trans Ams were 3.23 cars regardless of trans. After 1994 all T-56 cars were 3.42 rear geared standard due to the change in 1st to 4th gearing made in 94 to all T-56s. Unless he swaped that rear in, its gonna have 3.42s.

Update
The Lt1 TA has 2.73's the stock 3.42 blew up at the track and we pull a junk rear end out of a 94 auto.
Rerace
Both of my friends reraced yesterday this time the LT1 TA had his 4.10's.
LS is same as last race
LS1 WINS??
THE LT was shifting all the damn time while the LS kept pulling in the gears. LT was comming in 4th but ran out of gear, NO power past 6600rpm.
All i can fiugre is the Lt is under horsepowered and since the 4.10's favor the high revs and high hp it slowed the car down. Maybe the high LT1 torque was better for the 2.73's.
2.73 to 4.10's are slower on the street, track better be a different story.
O ya, we are dynoing the LT1 wed. so i will post some numbers then
Any quess on the numbers???

Actually it sounds like 4.10s are too much gear for that LT1. What probably happened is that the 4.10s were causing the LT1 to get through the gears so fast he hit 5th. 5th is a definite disadvantage to 4th that's a big drop down in gearing and with the other guy still in 4th the LS1 is pulling harder at that rate causing the loss. That's what I see. 4.10s are no gear for high speeds that's for sure. Did the LT1 pull the LS1 pretty good off the line for a while at least?
