Default OH So Close.....

Me and the wife took the car to Evadale Raceway to try the new 4.30 gears I installed a couple of weeks ago..The weather wasn't great with the DA around +1500' with showers coming..

First pass off the trailer
60'.............1.512
330'...........4.458.New Best
1/8th ET.....7.0001 New Best
1/8th MPH...96.53 New Best
1000' ET.....9.204 New Best
1/4 ET.......11.074 New Best
1/4 MPH.....120.32

Raceweight was 3430 LBS. I have just about beat myself to death to get the car to 60' but just can't seem to get the right combo of shock settings and tire pressures correct..I have only about 20 passes on the new engine so I'm still running a fairly mild tune in it..

I had some problems with the 4L60E shifting early on a few passes so I'm pulling the stock shifter and console out and installing a B&M Pro Rachet shifter..I'm going to start manually shifting the car off the shiftlite to see if I can fix this problem..Plus this shifter will work with the Turbo 400 going in the car later this year...The stock shifter sucks to try and do this..

Hopefully before all our good air is out of here for the year I can pick up the .06 to get my first 10 sec. slip

Is your 4L stock or built? Also, don't feel bad about the weather, I haven't raced at 1500 or lower DA in years.

Its a built by us type 4L60E..The tranny isn't slipping or anything just think its in the PC programming..

Hey I'm fixing to use a old converter of yours in my car..Its that 4500 Vigilante I bought from you last year and its the converter I'm going to use with the Turbo 400..

hmm ive thought about doing the same thing with mine.. we rebuilt my trans with clutches nad stronger planetarys' ect ect.. new updated stuff the whole way around.. do u think u will possibly hurt, or slow down by shifting manually? i like that idea just becuase sometimes the computer wont shift it down into first gear at around 25 and up mph ya know.. i always manually pull down into 1st if i happed to be next to a stang cruising at 30 or so.. then i have to immediately throw it up into second, or no matter how much i inticapate things, it will bang the revlimiter before it even trys to shift. plus i just like the look and feel of those rachet shifters.. can they still be put in drive and shifted automatically for a street car?

Sounds great Tim!

When I had shifting problems a number of years ago I would manually shift cuz it would short shift all the time. It's a bit tricky so you have to experiment.

Maybe you need to move some weight to the back of the car.
