Default BS3 / Stock gauges - interface

BS3 is up and running for about a week now..
Stock speedo works fine
Coolant temp works fine
Fuel Gauge & Oil Pressure also fine..

My tach on the other hand is showing exactly double..
Havent taken too much time to try and figure out a solution yet, but going to try this week..

Mighty Mouse - I know you mentioned this might be a problem at one time, anyone figure it out yet? I know its due to the shared crank sensor wires..

I am also getting a battery charge light, and havent taken the time to check that out yet..

Any Ideas would be appreciated.. Otherwise I will post later this week after I figure it out, or find out there isnt an answer

Thanks

how do you have the crank wires specifically? did you do anything at all with the tach out wire on the bs3?

Ok here is what we have done..

Installed a second coolant temp sensor in the other head and left the factory wire to the pcm intact on the other temp sensor... 1 BS3 & 1 Stock PCM - Coolant temp gauge reads perfectly

Output speed sensor - Stock PCM - Speedo works perfect

Oil Level Sensor - Stock PCM - Oil Level warning light works

Oil Pressure Sensor - Stock PCM - Oil pressure gauge works perfect

Altenator - Stock wiring

TPS - Shared with PCM / TCI TCM / BS3 - All 3 read acurate

All other wires have been removed from the Stock Wiring Harness..
I used HPTuners to remove all aplicable DTC's and causes.. (No ses light on)

Have run it about 400 miles so far..

2001 Crew Cab Truck..

The current crank conection is just the stock BS3 connector.. I have been in touch with John Meany and he may just make a "software" adjustment for me and have it go half the number of current pulses..

The big stuff wiring harness came with a factory three wire plug.. We are not "sharing" the crank sensor at this time..

if you are not sharing the crank sensor then where are you getting your rpm from?

The BS3 "tach" output wire is connected to the RPM signal wire out of the PCM..

oh, well that is why!

if you would remove that and share the crank signal instead the tach will read fine.

Thanks...
BTW dont suppose you would be willing to share your tune file? Would like to look at another for comparisons... I still have a ways to go on mine.. Need to get back to the dyno.. Unfortunately the closest load holding dyno is 140 miles away!

Thanks again for your help!

i dont have a tune yet. i dont have my crank sensor tapped off in any way yet. my car will not idle yet.

i did have it that way on the accel box and it worked though... the wires that used to go to the crank plugs i connected to the new wiring in the same locations

Ok looked hard at a wiring diagram and read a little on how the cluster works.. After taking it in, realized that the cluster needs to know the engine is running for the warning lights to function properly. So anyway decided to "share" the crank signal wire with the PCM and Presto! All gauges are working correctly.

Repeat!

ALL STOCK GAUGES IN THE CLUSTER ARE WORKING CORRECTLY!
ALL WARNING LIGHTS IN THE STOCK CLUSTER ARE WORKING CORRECTLY!

correct.

just to verify you have removed the tach wire that you did have hooked up that was giving you the double rpm.

p.s. could you emailme your file? i cannot get mine to idle.

That is correct!

Yes I will email you a couple of files! I have a "starting" tune.. And I will give you what I am using now.. Its way on the conservative side!

I will do it later today when I am near a wireless connection..

My whole deal is about the "stock" apearance. Other than an "e boost" gauge...
Yeah I have some switches etc.. but for the most part it has a stock looking interior..

Glad to hear it may save you some dough!
