Did some f-bodys have dana rear ends?

Default Did some f-bodys have dana rear ends?

Hi I have a dana rear end and posi unit that I thought was for a f-body but some one cut up the tubes. I can't compair to an f-body now. was a dana ever installed in a f-body and if so, what type posi is it? Thanks

There were danas in the 3rd gen F-bodies. Dana 44. They would have had a trac-lock rear. Not too many though.

there were 39 ( i think) firebirds that came from slp with ported heads and alot of stuff done that retailed for like 39,000 dollars back in 89. They had dana 44's in them also. I saw it on a special on tv so i cant remember all of it.

There was 27 Firehawks built by SLP in 91 and 92 that had the Dana 44. Also, for a while GM used the 44 to replace blown up 10 bolts under warantee, so theres more then 27 out there. Theyre 2 inches shorter on each side, otherwise they will bolt in to a 4th gen.

The Dana book shows 2 build numbers. 84-85 and 92-1/2 - 94.

I remember that, it was hard to pass up even though I didnt have an F-body. They are pretty tough rears, especially when compared to the 26 spline rears that most 3rd gens had.
