if your not sure i wouldn't do it like they said drive another m6 in traffic and see if you still like it. if you don't drive your car much you'll probably love it for racing. totally different feel.

When I drove my m6 in rush hour traffic w/ a Spec stage 4 (springless design) it never bothered me. But recently I just switched to a th400 w/ a 4000 stall and wouldn't look back. I had a lot of fun shifting gears but you just can't beat a auto w/ a torque converter. . But then again everyone is different. Test drive a dealership car, or a buddies and then make your decision.
FYI, switching to a m6 requires pedals, hydrolics, center consel, boot, crossmember, flywheel, etc. (I don't know if driveshafts are interchangable on a 4l60e and m6 or not, I know mine wasn't.)
Didn't know if you allready thought of that.

It really just depends on what you are gonna use the car for. 6spd cars are lots of fun. If you are wanting a car that is eay to drive and very consistant then go with an auto. If you are wanting to have a quick car to drive back and forth to work/school and to do some playing/street racing from rolls on the highway then 6spd is the only way to go.
I have a 95 LT1 car with a 6spd and it was a blast to drive with the Spec Stage 3 and the Big 236/242 600 lift cam and 4.10's. It was consistant but only with a good driver. And went thru clutches like it was going out of style.
But, now I have a 99 LS1 car with an A4.. Soon to be A3 with a 4000 stall. I am tired of banging gears and losing races on the street to much slower cars because I can't hook with the 6spd. So, I went to the auto and now its time to spank some **** outta the hole!

I had a 2000 SS with the M6 and now have the Hawk with the auto. I'll admit it has taken some time to get used to the auto and I really missed the M6 at first, but I really like the auto more and more. I know you don't have the same acceleration on the highway, but like 1QuickT-A said, traction isn't much of an issue when racing like the M6 was. I could burn the SS through 3rd if I wanted and sometimes when I didn't want to. The A4 hooks and sucks you back in the seat every time. Very consistent and still a blast to drive. It will burn the tires some in 1st and likes to chirp on the 1st-2nd shift, but not very noticeable and very controllable. My advice.....buy another car so you can have both!!
