Slicks---- What size and what kind?
Hey guys I am looking to get a pair of slicks to mount on my stock 16 rims that came with the trans am. I want to know what size slick should I get? I DO NOT want to break the rear end or anything. I was think about getting a smaller slick instead of a bigger drag radial. What size and brand name gives you the best bang for your buck? I am going to the Chevy Show that they are having in florida on 3/12- 3/13 so I hope that I could get a deal on them there!
Thanks
Thanks

You want to target 26" diameter tires to stay close to stock, Mickey Thompson Et streets come in a 26x10.5 with a 8.5 tread width, but hoosier has a 26x9.5 slick thats a 8" tread width. There both DOT tires, its hard to find a hardcore drag slick that fits a 16" rim, if your running the setup in your sig then yes your gonna make a figure 8 out of that rear end unless you beef the housing up to limit flex and have a carrier that'll take the load, even then your polishing a 28 spline turd, Depending on your launching technique I'm surprized its lasted this long. Stick with BFG or Nitto drag radials and heat'm up.

Why not try out BFG drags 1st? should get you into the low 12s without putting your rear in too much danger.
If you really want ET Streets, as was recommended before 26x10.5x16....but beware, you will be putting your rear in danger, not so much with an A4, but it will go

I used M6 as a better visiual.....anyhow you seem like you don't want to accept the fact that your rear will go just because its an A4, while its true that the A4 rear will last longer than an M6 rear, the A4 rear will break.
Anyhow you don't have to take any of our advice, just have a spare 2K+ to replace the rear when it goes

Sorry if I came across rude, I thought my statement earlier "BFGs will not hook nearly as well as ET streets" made sense to you
I guess to clarify, the BFGs will not cause as much of a shock on the rear as the ET Streets, because the BFGs will give way and spin a little while the ET streets will just hook and go causing a lot of shock on the rear
Like punching a brick wall, would you break your hand if there was a pillow in front (bfgs) or no pillow at all (ET streets).....am I making any sense?

that is not all correct....... BFG's do hook less, causeing less of a shock....but the side wall on the BFG's is very stiff it is a radial so what shock you have is instant...with the ET streets yes they will hook much more then the BFG's but there wrinkle wall design acts like a spring (or cusion) as they hook, so the instant they hook, the torque applied is spread out on the drive train more softly and longer, (the wheels can torque inside the tire for the instant, saveing drivetrain, and then un wrinkle in a matter of 100th of a second with is softer than a hook on a radial ) than a hook up on a radial (solid grab).... sorry if unclear...BUT BOTH WILL KILL A 10 BOLT. it is just a matter of witch on is faster at doing so..

I'll put my money on the ET Streets demolishing the rear before the BFGs do
Good post though some deep stuff there with all the wrinkling and crinkling and springing action
