Default Dust brackets on backing plates?

Will not having dust brackets on the backing plates sent to be put on my Strange 12-bolt have any negative effect? I bought the plates from a junkyard, and the dust brackets were pretty much trashed so all I have is the backing plates. Has anyone run their 12-bolt without the dust brackets? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, they're the black things bolted onto the backing plates.

I am thinking of removing mine, those are only if you street drive your car ... it prevents water (or contaminents) from gathering on your rotors. The water being cold and splashing on a hot rotor is not good. For our 'race car', it won't see water so we can get away with not having them.

I don't drive my car in the rain, so I guess the only thing I have to worry about is some extra brake dust. I don't daily my car, but it does get driven on nice days. Thanks for the info.
