Default Do you need TI retainers with the 224 cam?

Just wondering, how come they are pricey, more than the springs themselves! 918s you can get for 160 and the retainers for them are like 170-180. Just wondering if you need them and what exactly do they do?

They are a lot lighter which helps to enhance valvetrain stability at higher rpms. They aren't necessary but a good idea. A lightweight valvetrain is good when you're spinning the motor high. How high do you plan on revving? If over 64-6500 def. get the titanium retainers.
