Spool in a 7.5 10 bolt, Break or not to bread??
I am wanting to put a moser spool and 30 spline axles in my stock gm 7.5 10 bolt.
Is this a good idea considering i dont have the cash for a 12 bolt, and the stock posi wont hold much hp.
If i uderstand stock rearends,
7 out of 10 break the posi,
1 out of 10 break the teath off the gears
2 out of 10 break axles
So if i upgrade the axles to moser 30 spline and repalce the posi with a spool, then my rearend should last somewhat longer, right??
I only have 320 hpN/A(470 NX) but i am wanting to pull low 1.6 60fts. A friend of mine blew his rearend out the week after he pulled three 1.6 60 ft with nitrous. I dont want my rearend to blow in dallas, on a good track, 5 hours from home.
Is this setup stronger than stock 4.11's with a gm posi??

It will last longer, but only marginaly. Once you upgrade the axles and diff the ringis the next weak link, so it is only a matter of time. Also, I have never seen a full spool with 30 spline for a 7.6. I dont think you can even get a full spool for a 7.6 at all, not that I have seen.

from what i've seen, 90% break the gears.
my pinion broke 8 of the 13 teeth off.
just save your money and buy a 12 bolt, leave the stock gear in your rear end and put your efforts into getting a 12 bolt (or 9").
i definatly wouldnt go to a track thats 5 hours away unless i trailered my car there.
my thoughts on 10 bolts - you can polish a turd, but you still have a turd
