Default 9" and keeping ABS in a non-TCS car?.?.?

From what Ive heard this is not possible... anyone know for sure?

I did a couple searches and didnt find what I was looking for.

Basically I have a 02 SS with no TCS. I would like to go 9" but I heard Id lose my ABS in the process. I just dont feel like going with a 12bolt and have a $2500 investment blow up on me.... Ill be putting down about 530-550rwhp after I install my D1SC. This is also on a M6 car of course. I know it sounds petty but I actually like to take my SS on road trips with my wife and daughter... and Im not yet willing to give up the ABS option.

Is there any way to order a 9" and convert it to work on my non-TCS car?

TIA.

it CAN be done, but its UGLY. just dump your ABS, thats what I did. I run a 9" on a 3ch w/o abs and I can brake just about as well as before, except when I slam them doin 60 I can tell the difference....just have be an attentive driver. which you should be anyhow.

it takes some creative work with a gear and relocating your abs sensor. i would just ditch the abs. i havent had a single problem without mine in the car

I wouldn't listen to those guys. Who cares if it "looks ugly" its a safety device that no one will ever see. I bought my gear for $40 and had a friend Machine it for free. I got a few ABS plugs from a salvage yard for $5 and built the mounting bracket out of a piece of aluminum strap. So in my setup i have $50 worth of parts about 2 hrs of time and functional ABS. Well worth it in my opinion. Hell adding 3 channel ABS to a 12 bolt is $100 last i checked. My setup cost less than that. You should probably never need ABS but that one time you do it will pay to have it.

you're right....don't have to listen to "this guy"....but people have been stopping plenty fine w/o ABS for years. i've been driving w/o abs for almost a month now and i've locked up my brakes a dozen times w/o issues. just keep your head out of your *** and it shouldn't be an issue.

How do you know what size of gear to get to make the pinion mount?
