If I'm not mistaken the F11 has a more aggressive lobe. This will result in:
So is it worth going with the comp cam to avoid the noise valvetrain and wear and tear and noisiness of the valvetrain?
How much difference in performance will there be between these cams?
I don't mind leaving a little performance on the table if I can have a quieter valvetrain and less wear and tear, but I don't want to leave too much. If it's 0.10 seconds, I can live with that; If its 0.30 seconds I'd have to go with the noise.
Thanks,
Jim
- more area under the curve, which equates to better performance
- noisier valve train
- harder on springs

I do have another question: how bad is the "sewing machine" noise with the F11? I know this is subjective, but just trying to get an idea.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the advice, but I'm trying to keep the duration under 230. I'm trying not to go with too big of a cam.

My car has longer valves in the heads, which made me run a different length pushrod and mine has a little bit of sewing machine noise, but its very light and you really cant hear it over the exhaust at all.
If you're thinking about buying this cam, don't worry about noise or wear on your valvesprings. It's a great cam that makes a lot of power under the curve where it counts. It has an awesome idle and drives like stock with no bucking and idle searching at stops. Consider the fact that its on sale right now and I'd jump all over it.

Thanks for the replies
I was pretty much sold on the F11 until I saw Tiger2o69's post about the comp cam. That post made me second quess my choice; hence my questions. But now I'm convinced that I'm going with the F11.
Exactly!
Thanks again,
Jim
p.s. you'll probably be hearing from me again when I start stumbling through the install
