Are you talking about the cable operated type? If so stay away I havent ever heard anything good about them. Just get a regular cutout from one of the supporting vendors. You will love it. Or if you got some money to burn get an electric cut out but I dont know why you would ever want to cap it on a car w/ stock manifolds.

yea I'd stay away from the cable cutouts, the butterfly would probably leak being the only thing holding it shut is a choke cable. I'd would just get a flowtech cutout with the cap so when you want to open it, just take off the wing nuts and your ready to go.

Or you can always put an electric cutout on it. I've never heard anything good about the cable ones either.

The only cable ones I've seen are the cast iron, JC Whitney
2" ones. But, you could go on eBay and pick up a butterfly
valve for reasonable (the beer brewers seem to snarf up the
stainless ones pretty quick but you might beat 'em one day).
A 3" butterfly in full stainless would be cool.

I think the bad rap on cable ones is leakage. But, put some
spring on the end to when you close it, there is some local
seating pressure, and I think that will suffice. Problem is an
old fashioned cable just doesn't push worth **** when you
bottom it. But a little ingenuity and you could have a pretty
trouble-free, and instant-open setup. Bugs me, waiting 5
seconds to get mine open when somebody needs schooling
-now-.

Yes, the cast iron manual ones only come in sizes too small for any LS1 car application...get the QTP QTEC electric, no dirty hands or dirty clothes, no capping/uncapping it in the bitter cold etc, this thing is SUPER convenient.

I don't what these cable things are, never heard of 'em. I'm familiar with the QTEP electric cut-out, but I'm not dishing out 300+ for them. If I need to put my cap on, I just crawl under my car and do it. I always drive it around open, its not that loud at all
Sometimes, if I need to quiet it down while I'm driving, I'll have my passenger open the door, lean down, and pop the cap back on.
