Default Has anyone made a mock up replica LS1 engine yet?

Sorry if this is the wrong section but didn't know where else to ask.

Been waiting and waiting but it's been 8 years now and no company that I found makes plastic replicas of the LS1 engine. Someone know something I don't?

There was a guy at the PRI show that had a foam one in the booth next to us. He was using to display valvecovers and a timing chain cover. The name of the company and guy was PML David Tolin 310-671-4345. He might be able to tell you where he got it.

No thanks...i'll just get a scrap block and heads for that much...oh wait that is what i'm doing but, it's good parts. I'm using a spare block and heads for the mock-up work on my 92' S-10 project.

It's not the price we're worried about, it's the weight. I know the LS1 is aluminum and all but you ca't beat plastic

I'd be willing to bet that plastic block weighs just as much as a bare block.

I hope your kidding...... As for the plastic weighing just as much as the aluminum, I believe the plastic is just a shell, not a solid piece of plastic. I've seen um thrown around like footballs before....

It's for mock up. It's more than a shell. You can bolt parts to them. It will be almost exact like a stock block. Other than the heads..the weight difference to me wouldn't outweigh the cost. I mean hell I've been seting a stock block down in my truck by hand. I tried a mock up with the tranny(t-56) on a bare block with heads and oil pan.lol That was a joke..even with an engine leveler it hung at a 45 degree angle because of the tranny weight.

I never said it weighed less.....and I will stand corrected. The block weighs 12-15lbs and the heads are about 6lbs a piece. For my purposes a stock block works the best.

No problem man. As for your question, no it's not a running engine made of plastic. It's a plastic mold of a LS-1 engine. Most use them when mocking up conversions into diffrent styles of cars or if you are doing some custom buiding. They are supposed to be lighter and easier to move around than a real motor.
