slp headers a big flop?
I have heard from a very credible source that the slp LT's do not flow as well as any other long tubes with a decent length collector.
he said "they work very well on a unmodified engine but when you start to put cam and heads on it then they dont do so well."
is this true? would the hooker super comp LT's be better than the slp's?

The slps have some flaws, there are better headers out there. The SLP's also hang VERY low.
These are my choices for best headers:
1. Kooks (I run the kooks and LOVE them, I dont think there is a better header)
2. QTP
3. Edelbrock LS-1 Victor Series Drag Race Headers (Best bang of the buck Header)
4. Hookers

I hear the Kooks headers are awesome. They are also expensive but probably close to SLP if thats what you were going to go with. People talk about Kooks headers all day long and how they are so awesome. Also the SLP headers do hang very low so if your car is lowered plan on bottoming out everywhere and buying new headers every few months

KOOKS/QTP: the best
Pacesetter/Jet Hot: great budget header
Hooker: Good header, used to be the budget header option, but Pacesetters are much cheaper.
Any old Grott design based LT performs well.
And please, please use search for SLP header issues. This issue is beaten to death.

I installed the Supermaxx header system on my 2002 Collector Edition on last Memorial Day weekend.
I did not have any installation problems in the engine compartment. The Supermaxx directions are very detailed, with colored pictures included. The headers were a drop-in {"drop-up" from the bottom } installation. They do not interfere with or rub against anything!
I did the entire job myself w/o any help. This was possible because I used a set of temporary studs to "hang" the gaskets and headers on, so I did not have to hold the headers while trying to thread the screws into the head.
There was an issue fitting the Y-pipe into the stock exhaust pipe. The diameters are nearly identical. But to Dynatech's credit, they strongly suggested buying or renting a tail pipe expander for the task. Not having one was my problem, not theirs, and I developed a particular solution to the problem myself.
I'm very pleased with the entire package. I've had my chance to really drive it hard. It sounds real good with my stock WS6 exhaust. No dyno #'s but there was a noticable SOTP increase.
If you are searching for a header system that looks good, fits good, and has all the necessary parts complete from the header bolts to the cat-back, the SuperMaxx system should be on your short list!

2. You probably would have run into the 9s with different headers.
That is all.

The majority of people telling youg SLP headers suck is because they dont even have them on their car. Yeah I'll admit they scrap ONCE in a while going over a speed bump but my exhaust gets scraped more than my headers do. I got them for half the price so I didnt have to pay all that money. Whatever, Im happy with them.

like fatboy said :p, keep it back on topic.
i've said it before, and i'll say it again, my whole tenure on any ls1 site i've yet to see one go from X brand of headers to SLP's but i've seen plenty of people go to X brand from SLP.
FWIW i got my whole exhaust; jet hots, custom catted Y, magnaflow, and o2 extensions for 900 bucks.
