Street Racing & Kill Stories - Bunch of runs...

Last week I got a couple of mods for my Mazda 3 (see sig) and wanted to run a friend of mine at work with a Vibe GT (1.8L 180hp M6) who I played with a few times at low speed when stock but never a real run. His brother who works with us (2002 Grand Am GT) wanted in on the race as well (I enjoy and encourage 3-car races). So we line 'em up 2 at a time at 50mph and decide to go 'till 110.
1st race: Me vs. Grand Am - started even, he pulled his ass to my front bumper by 75, but once the A4 shifted out of 2nd, I began to pull and at 110, the opposite, my ass at his nose.
2nd race: Me vs. Vibe - he slowly pulled away from me the whole time, he got 2 cars on me by 110.
3rd race: Grand am vs. Vibe - even at first until about 75, then the vibe pulled hard, they Grand Am admitted to loosing to his brother by at least 3 cars. I backed off at 90 when I thought I saw a cop on the side of the road so I did not withness the whole run.
While talking about the runs at work, this other asshole I work with butts into the convo and starts talking shit.
**Shittalker has a WRX STi bone stock.
He is laughing at us for racing our cars which he thinks should not be racing in the first place. This gets me  . Why can't a couple of guys have a good time running what they got in a friendly, honest race? Street racing or track racing for that matter is not only reserved for fast cars. I told him this in a more animated way :D and he proceeds to talk more shit about my camaro and how he will stomp on it from any roll speed. He is even willing to put money on it. I want to run him when the weather is warmer. What do you think? I know STi's are quick from a dig, but will I get him from a roll? This assclown needs to be taught a lesson.

I think you would be able to take him. But why are you modding a mazda when you have a camaro?

Because I havn't yet decided what mods to put on the SS yet :D . But I can guarantee it'll be more than just CAI and catback. ;)

I just raced an STI a few weeks ago. To be fair, he did have a passenger, but my system makes up for half of that disadvantage. went from a 20 roll, he instantly put 3 car lengths on me as i fought for traction till third gear. Once it caught I past him around 90 at a good 20-25 MPH faster than him. put 3 to 4 cars on to 110. Would have been pure annhialation if I had something better than winter tires on.
Im not all that far from stock. I dont think youll have any problems as long as you get traction and shift well.

It all depends on the driver. It takes a degree of skill to launch an STI.

Good runs man! You should have no problem getting the STI as long as he doesn't mod up before you actually race. From a roll you have him no problem. From a dig, if he knows what he's doing it might be close.

Thanks guys, I may just put on an SLP flopac (lid, filter, bellows, TB, etc) and magnaflow catback before the race just to be sure. :drive:

UPDATE:
This morning the asswipe and his buddies ambush me on the way to my desk with a proposal. $100 from a dig and get this...he says he will start in 2nd!
I told him that under those circumstances he would surely lose since he will bog the engine. He says there will be no bogging or turbo lag because he will launch at 6000 rpm. Let me get this straight...he thinks that he can safely do an all wheel drive clutch drop from 6000rpm in 2nd gear... :bomb: (transmission)
So...I agreed
It seems that I keep running into ignorant fools... (see my other thread: "some ricers never learn")

He probably has to start in second gear because every tooth has been sheared off first gear.

Probably...since the race will happen in april I'm guessing. I expect to have the parts before then.

You'll beat him. This guy doesn't really know his car well. You can't clutch drop those cars at 6G's, 1st or 2nd. Either he'll ruin the tranny from droping from 2nd, or (and this happened from first gear to my buddy) snap one of his drive axels. This guy is a tard and deserves beat down, just be ready for "Ricer" excuses. Not saying an STi is rice though.

Please let us know what happen. I would love to be at the dealer when he have his car towed there for repairs. I would love to see the dumb ass look on his face when they tell him to get lost or pull out the check book.

if the guy is a dumass u can take him easily. those sti's have to be launched almost at redline so they dont bog off the line, you cant launch it at 2,500 lol. but for shore youll catch him on the top end as long as you dont spin too much u should be able to get him before the quarter is over.

UPDATE:
This morning I showed up with the SS  with the intention of racing at lunch time. I go over to see him and ask him if he would run today. He said no because its too cold out and he will not be able to hook. I informed him that if he could not hook with all-wheel drive from a second gear launch, how am I supposed to hook. He replied that he didn't care and he will not race until it is warmer (what I was saying initially)...my how the tables have turned. :eyes:

UPDATE:
Brought the camro into work again today because I am getting impatient and I want to try and convince him to run again. As luck would have it, I see him on the road on my way in. :D
I stick him in the :shakinass for a few seconds then pull up beside him on the left. I point in front of me with a grin as a motion to go. He shakes his head. I motion the words "COME-ON", and he gives me one of these :eyes: . So I punch it past him.
This is very interesting, because on my wasy back home from work when I have the mazda, he is always tailing MY ass and puchig it past me as if he wants to run. :judge:
Oh well, it looks like the race will never happen :gay:

UPDATE:
The race happened yesterday at lunch. We each took two passengers who were very enthusiastic about the race. I took two of his followers and he took two of my buddies, all are decently knowledgeable about cars and the purpose of this swap was to eliminate any chance of :bs: excuses, i.e there will be in-car spectators of the opposite side watching the driver and race critically.
The plan was to go from a 40 roll up until 120. I suggested going from a dig from the light we were stopped at before getting onto the highway (I rolled down my window and proposed it last minute). Well, I eased off the clutch easy and he launched off the limiter :nono: . I got a good launch and almost went WOT immediately. He got a 1 car lead by 30, I managed to stop his pull as soon as he shifted to second (the top of first for me) and in second began to pull ever so slightly. When I regained a half car, he misses 3rd (witnesses verified this) and we shut down.
From the highway roll 40 mph, both of us in second. Three honks. He begins to pull on me very slightly, then he shifts...I stop his pull. I shift to third, dead even. At about 80, he shifts to fourth, and I begin to pull slightly. From 80 - my nose at his door, to 100 his nose at MY door, shift to fourth, my pull speed is approx. maintained, by 120 in fourth, I had 1-1.5 cars on him, at that point he grabbed fifth and continued. I did not let up until redline in fourth (about 130 something) and I had maybe 3 cars on him.
He admitted his defeat. When we were racing, one of this buddies said "Fuck, it pulls like crazy in third" :) I love that. Respect the LS1 :hail:
