Does anyone have a recommendation for a dyno-tuner in S. Calif? I live in Irvine, CA.

best bet is to buy hptuners and do it yourself. not to many good people in california.

Contact Strictly Performance and see if they still work with Mike Morgan.

Doesn't mean they know anything about tuning.

I am talking about strictly. They don't know jack about tuning. I have seen that same car making the same power forever. Obviously keith is hand holding them while they do the tune. They have had the software for all of a couple months. You really think they know how to use it? You said yourself that your tune was shit?

Doesnt this question always get mixed emotions for answers?
How do you know if the guy tuning your car really knows what he is doing?
I mean if you dont know the correct way to do it how do you know he does?
Sure lots of "tuners" can make your car/truck run better, but is that what you are looking for?

I highly reccomend this class http://www.efi101.com/
Dont get me wrong, I am not saying you will emerge a full blown tuner.. Although you will leave with the knowledege of how to do it.
The best part is you will leave knowing how and why your sensors and ecm respond and act the way they do... EVEN if you think you know it all, I will guarantee you will learn something in this class..

Afterwards you will know several quick questions you can ask a tuner to see if he knows what he is talking about, or if he is one of those self taught tuners, who basicaly sets your AFR's to a conservative level and then sets your timing just below the ping threshold and ships you down the road.. Yes it works but could it be a lot better???

Mind you, EFI101 is for stand alone units like DFI and such. It is not a class for EFILive, HPTuners, or LS1-Edit ... although what they teach you can help you understand the basics to navagate through a stock tune and improve it.

I am considering this 'class' just for fun. :)

That is correct, however the majority of the class is spent learning how your FI system functions and better yet why and how it will respond to adjustments. Be it EFI live, HPTuners, LS1-Edit, or a standalone DFI system..
True they spend time on a dyno the second day tuning on a aftermarket DFI system, however you still get a lot out of it. Although it is done "real time" and you see results real time you can see what will happen when making adjustments and then uploading..

I know a lot of people from this site have gone and I am yet to hear of ANY negative comments..

In the class that I went too the General Manager of F.A.S.T. attended, techs from Garrett Turbos attended, numerous tuners and techs, and several average joes..

Oh, I am not saying it is bad, just that they should not expect to be taught exclusively with (for example) HPTuners on a stock LS1 and show what tables to modify. That is all. :)
