Default has anyone ever put a "frame" in a 4th gen?

Instead of using "subframe connectors" has anyone every actually cut out the floor board on the sides and connected the rear "frame" to the front "frame"? Just curious because i know this is what all the old school cars do, they just have the room to do it. These new unibody cars suck.

I think that Wolfe Racecraft has some through the floor connectors. They are still sub frame connectors but they are made from square tubing. Check them out.

ok, i just wanted to make sure someone knew of this before i posted these pics

this is my GETTER DONE version. 2x3 steel. custom fabbed by yours truely via plasma cutter and welder.
i had NO IDEA someone sold a "kit" to do this otherwise i would of got it, but this is my solution. once i grind down the welds it will look like it came from the factory from under the car. It is flush with the car unlike the wolfe one which dips down. and mine is 2x3 the entire length of the frame. should be bad ***. Next week im going to install my ladder bar setup along with the rear coil overs.

For more info. Most if not all stock eliminator cars run that type of sub frame connector. My chassis shop was going to put those in my car but they really liked the way the boxed BMR's worked.

outlaw, thats freakin awesome! man thats some nice work! did you do that all yourself?

im a freakin computer programer so give me some damn credit for what i did! haha im helpin a buddy get some new equipment hooked up at his shop so hes letting me use his facilities. im doin the best i can! haha.

gator. hm look at a sub frame connector, such as kenny browns...the fact that you can bend thoes to fit the car your putting them on, and that they flop around by hand...mabye its just me, but a frame SHOULDNT be like that. Also my car was rear-ended back 4 years ago when i got it. even with the subfame connectors on, the frame was still not stiff.

z28 racer, did they have a 12 point cage in their car along with the dinky sub frame connectors? a nice cage does wonders for stiffining the frame as well. i dont want some monstrosity of a cage in my car at this point in time. so i opt'ed for the through the floor solution which gets covered by carpet.

I modified by old subframes to attach to the body of the car. If I lift the car by the front wheel, the rear comes up too.

I like Outlaw's idea too.

Camaro:

Well I ran just the sub frame connector before the cage. The car with pretty stiff. I wouldn't call the Boxed version BMR makes crappy. I think they one of the best bolt/weld in pieces on the market. I do know that with my cage(no sure how many points, but its a lot. Not into the engine compartment though) in the car the roof still cracked. There are two hair line cracks that run from one side to the other. BUt that **** happens when you put 250-300 passes on your car a year.

actually for the first time i saw the bmr boxed ones in person this life, and they arent crappy at all, i was mis-informed by someone. however they still do not give the ridgedness that the through the floor ones do.

I will agree with you there. If I were to do it over I would have put through the floor connectors on my car. It just would have made making stock seat brackets fun.

wow that contraption does look...interesting? doesnt look that strong...the one whole bar commin off the rearend? mabye it works well who know.

z28racer, yeah i will have pics later of my fabbed seat mounts, its actually only on, the rear side. so im sure im just going to have to bend the bracket on the seat up so it goes on top of the new beam, and weld some threaded stud to the beam. shouldnt be too difficult. ( i hope ) hahaha. if it proves to be to ridiclious, i will get some seats from summit. they have some bad *** racing seat that they sell thats very affordable. i might look into that.

it looks ok, but whats with the torque arm? i realize its tieing into the entire setup, but one lousy bar? i mean, the ladder bar has 2 "torque arms" commin off the rear, and 4 link the same and then some. this looks less stable than the stock setup or a spohon setup or something...just my opinoin from looking at it.

I have no idea, but the words PRO FAB scare me off.
