05 Mustang Vs 01 Ws6
So Im sitting at home last night, and I hear a car pull in the driveway. Its my cousin who is all excited because he just picked up a new car. Much to my dismay, its a brand new 05 Mustang GT. He parks the thing right next to my 01 WS6. He says "u wanna get smoked." We didnt run lsat night, but he says he is 100% certain he will beat me. I got to take it for a spin, they are comfortable and it moves well. So, the question is that we are racing on saturday, who will win, my 2001 Trans Am WS6 M6 or his 2005 Mustang GT M5. Both cars are bone stock.

I raced one in my car from a roll and dig and from a dig i was spinning a bit on the cold pavement. I did lose both but not by that much. I think that you will beat him but thats just IMO. I have been beat by an LS1 that was mostly stock worse than the GT. So take my opinion to a grain of salt....
Anyone else agree?

They're quick. A buddy of mine has a lightly modded LT1 M6 Formula (small cam, exhaust and in desperate need of a tune). He ran 13.6 @ 102 or 103. He ran an 05 and beat him no problem. If you can drive then you shouldn't have a problem with him, but don't sleep.

there not that fast, with equal drivers they will lose by 2-3 cars in the quarter. the best time on a stock one is like 13.4 which is about .5 seconds longer then the fastest fbody ls1. simply put... they have less hp, shitty tranny, shitty rearend.

I don't know, The magazines (all the info I have, sorry) seem to be putting it at mid 13 second quartermiles, and 5.1 second 0-60s. That means that, on paper, it SHOULD be faster than my TA, although I can't for the life of me figure out how. They weigh the same as our cars (look it up) and have about 30-50 less hp. I thought perhaps ford was underrating the engine, but I saw a dyno graph of a new 05 bone stock, and it was putting down 265rwhp. That's right in line with the 300 crank it's claiming... so I don't know.

you also drive the most hindered ls1 made. with free mods, and knowing how to launch(not so good 60' on ur part from ur sig) you would get low 13s. also the mag times are manual, u need a manual fbod to compare, autos need some mods to wake them up.

I raced one and they seem O K through 1st and a little of second but they dont want to pull hard in 3rd and on. The top speed indicates that. At 300hp, they do 145-147. They seem to loose steam as they go. A stock LT1 will do 155-157 with 275hp. An LS1 will pull 160+. You should pull nicely as you increase speed Im sure.

I hadn't had the car long when I did those runs (It was my third trip to the track period). However, The thing that bothers me is the 102mph trap speed. I've never heard of any LS1 trap that low. I thought 103 was the minimum, even for autos. I've checked the PCM with a scanner and everything was running well. So for a 102mph trap speed, I didn't think 13.7 was that bad actually. I'm going back in a few weeks so we'll see if i can pull anything better. If I could get a 13.4 out of the car, I'd be a happy happy camper.
My best has been 13.8 ET @103.8mph with a 2.1sec 60ft. So, you are not that far off from me. I have only been to the track once, and was getting used to the stick. Hopefully, I can drive a little better now. I am planning on going to run a week from Sunday.
