Default Why is the LS1 slow to rev down?

When I rev the LS1 engine, it revs fast but why does it take a while for it to rev down?

I believe GM programmed it this way for emissions reasoning.

Yep, I hate it too. It makes it hard to shift quickly and smoothly. Is there anyway to delete it?

There is a motor used on the throttle cable which brings the rpms down slowly, so the LS1 does not stall after the rpms drop quickly.

Can LS1 Edit fix that or a custom PCM reprogramming?

Where is this throttle motor you speak of?

There's only a cruise control motor on the throttle cable. If you took that off and watch it while revving the engine it does not do anything at all. Even revving it manually by roating the throttle blade bellcrank, it still does it. I believe it has to do with the injectors and the PCM controlling it.

when mine is cold or colder it doesnt do this which leads to choppy shifting kinda

when hot it stays up there which I think makes it easier to shift faster and smoother when power shifting

I have a 2000
