Default update on plug swap...

Ok, here is an update on my plug swap. I had swapped out the Bosch platinum’s for some NGK TR55s. No new wires at this time. I had gapped them at .06. My car started running like crap, it would idle at 800-900 rpm (acceptable?) Then regapped them to .055. Still ran like crap. Then I swapped in some brand new Taylor 409 wires with new Bosch platinum’s. Still runs like crap. Cruising at 35 mph the car feels like its surging, not to bad though, but annoying. When you accelerate to 38 or more it smooth’s out. When I took out the NGK’s, which were in only about 10 days or so, the number one plug looked different from #2 thru #8. The center of number one looked brown and looked like it was soaked in something, (gas I know). The white center on #2 thru #8 were still white. So my question is could the coil pack on #1 be bad?

are you getting a PO300 misfire code and an SES check engine light?

If no, I doubt the plugs or wires or coil pack is bad...

1. As said, check for misfires. If it is missing, the computer will know.
2. Have you tried cleaning the MAF? You'd be surprised at how shitty your car will run if it is dirty...
3. If it was me, I wouldn't have touched the MAF housing...if you haven't tuned for it, I will guarantee you your tune is way the hell off.

This almost sounds like it was a coincidence that this happened at the same time as your plug swap...hell, maybe one of your injectors is stuck open. Never can tell with these things...

Try switching the #1 coil to another cylinder for a day or two then check the plugs again. If #1 cylinder is good now and the other wet then it probably is a bad coil pac.
