Oil pump porting help!!
I've read if your modding your engine you need to port the oil pump. How do you do this and the article mentioned something about possibly a different stronger spring.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!!!

Word on the street has it that porting an oil pump can be a tricky proposition for the first-timer. Many have written it isn't worth the possible engine damage if the pump isn't right.
Really, a ported LS6 pump from one of the sponsors isn't a pricy part, compared to what many other items cost.
And, don't try to monkey with the spring for added pressure. It's flow that is important, and acutally, you get more than enough flow from the stock LS6 pump.
The gold standard is that all engines should have a pressure of 10 PSI for every 1,000 RPM of operation, not more, not less. After all, you do need some pressure to move that oil along, but only enough pressure, not more. More pressure is not better, it can only result from the impedance of oil flow. Remember that oil flow is the only thing that does the lubricating.
Run the proper viscocity synthetic oil and you'll be fine.
