Default idle speed and dying with new tune and cam heads

Okay i have a 01 ls1 it has a f1 cam .591 lift on a 112 also have fully ported and polished ls1 heads. i have gotten a tune for it and idle speed is sat at 800 rpms i believe he said. Anyways when i come to a stop it dies on me and i have to two foot it to keep it from dying and when i pull into my driveway and let off gas it dies. What do i need to do to keep it from dying? Do i need to drill a bigger hole in the throttle blade but wont that make it idle higher? Thanks for any help and sorry if this is the wrong forum

I have that problem and was informed it is either a tuning problem or a vacuum problem if the car surges at times.

haha i am definately having the same problem you are.. except that mine doesn't always stall... I am thinking of drilling my TB hole.. but i am also worried it will make my 8-900 RPM idle move to over a 1000 and i will have to get it tuned down.. Anybody know what size hole to drill or what to do? we need help! no more driving with 2 feet haha..

allan at futral said surging shouldn't be much of a problem.. make sure the IAC at idle warmed up is between 25-45.. we can both try that and see what happens! cya man

yeah. go ahead a try drilling out the TB. start small with the bit size and test drive it after everytime you drill. might take a while. dont go any bigger than 1/4".

Do you have a way to monitor IAC counts? Drilling the TB has fixed many a issues with big cams. You can also use the set screw on the TB to crack the blade some. Just be sure to reset you TPS so it will view the blade at 0%.

Using the set screw and tuning the idle is the correct way to fix the problem.

had the same problem. Drilled a hole in the tb and used the set screw. Got it close then got it tuned.
