Ive seen it all.....need HELP
Just last summer, I dropped a valve in the #7 cylinder. I went to taking it appart over my Spring Break last week, and found both valves fully together, a beat up head, and a cracked sleeve, made me sick... When turning the engine crank to get a better look, the piston is offset and twiches before even going down/up. The only thing I can think of that happened was the body shop putting together the new short block awhlie back, and they got something in the motor. Any ideas anyone???Any idea where is a good place to get a new engine??????

Could be rod bolt failure or bend rod then.

talk to AP Engineering, HPE, Futral, FASTech, all of them can build you a kickass motor. and they're all sponsors ->

I see they have a deal right now on a 500 hp engine build, but I dont know if its available for the Trans Am as well, and if they will resleve the engine I have to make it work. Im just lost right now, I had heads and cam etc picked out bt never got to order seeing what I saw in there. We used a scope before ad it looked fine, but with a cracked sleeve, I dunno. Dont know how it happened, just blows my mind.

I agree, go to a sponsor, HPE built my 408 on a iron block, put a few K on it with no problems, now its getting twin turbo'd, we will see how well it will hold up under big boost.

I found it cheaper to BUY a new shortblock than fix mine. FWIW.
