Maybe GM can shoot both their feet at the same time. Maybe if they didn't cancel the F-bodys. Maybe if they didn't make that awful Aztec, and maybe
check (web site www.pontiac.com) if the G6. Grand Am, Grand Prix, Bonneville, and even the GTO didn't all LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME! Maybe they would sell a few cars. I'm telling you right now if the Goat went retro it would be one of the best selling cars right now, instead you hardly see them on the road that is when you had to get right on it to determine if it was a muscle car or a family sedan. I'm just dissapointed in GM lately if it wasn't for Chevy's and GMC's trucks and SUV's, and the Vette, they would be done.

Tell us how you really feel David! I am done with new cars and as soon as mine is paid off I am going to get old cars. Janna can get her new Tahoe if she wants but I will most likely never buy new again.

Especially after seeing pics and specs of the new Cobra. I'm starting to lean heavily that way myself.

So what brand. Did they kill Oldsmobile yet? I say Buick is gone in 5 years...then GMC or Pontiac.

Ya Oldsmobile is gone. Buick I think will be next. After that who knows. It will not be GMC, they sell too many trucks and SUV's.

Maybe they'll knock off Saturn. Besides the new Sky, the rest of the lineup looks like crap.

Hmmm.....and everyone wonders why I want an 03 Cobra so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree if the GTO's looked better they would sell more but its a freakin LS1 family sedan. Im going to the darkside but for a good reason.

Yea, I agree with most of the newr cars not looking so good, the only fast cars that really apeal to me right now are the gen 2 GTS vipers, the 01 cobra, and a FRC C5.

Pontiac must be inbreeders with the looks of all of the cars. Are the next Pontiacs going to be missing tires?

Yeah I saw something on the news about it a week ago about their stock going down and sells. It was like 20% down for Pontiac, Buick, and GMC and 3% for Cadillac, but Chevrolet was not mentioned.
IMO, I think GMC should be gone because a Seirra (spelling?) truck is a Silverado with a different grill, same thing with Yukon & Envoy. Buick....well all they have is Tiger Woods, LOL. Satrun and Izuzu are also part of GM too I believe, and I would never buy either of those. Also you can't really compare GM to Ford or any any others for that matter. GM is like 6 companies in one, as where Ford is just Ford and Lincoln (and i think they also took in Jaguar??), and same with things like Dodge, plymoth, Crysler and so on. But that is JMO. I mean tell me if I am wrong, but that is what it seems to me. One of GM's problems is that it is always behind the competition. They are finally getting rid of the cavalier for a better optioned Cobolt, the HHR is basicly a PT Cruiser it looks like. They need to stop making copy-cats too. The new Chevrolet Uplander van is also a Buick, satrun and maybe pontiac too???
But I am no buisness major here so I cannot say what is the best move to make. But maybe Chevrolet and Cadalliac are the only worthy ones.

Someone correct me if im wrong but according to their websites it looks like this is where they stand.
General Motors Owns:
Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Hummer, (good IMO)
...and... Oldsmobile, Buick, Saturn, Saab. (all trash IMO)
do they own these? Opel, Holden, Vauxhall.
Ford Motor Company Owns:
Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Austin Martin.

Heck I think the GTO is okay, just for the LS2 that it has in it. Well at least the ones that I saw that were the SEMA ones, very nice looking.
There is not much that I like out right now.
The C6 is okay, but I drive a Z06.
The New Z06 will be out but way to much , would rather have a used viper, in its place.
Who knows I might opt to keep my car and play with it, have yet to decide what I want to do ???
But I like the idea of the old cars, would like a Grand National, S10 truck 500+ci, or maybe a LX 5.0 for fun. That would be old enough for me, and fit in my budget, get into the really old stuff it gets to expensive.

GM owns: Saab, Saturn, Chevy, Pontiac, GMC, Buick, Cadilac, Hummer, and still technically Olds.
holden, opel, izuzu are partners not owned buy GM
Ford owns: Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Jag, Range Rover, Volvo, Mazda, Aston Martin
that is the same number of brands.
here is a thought go even bigger luxury with Caddy. i mean like some over 100k and then elivate buick to what caddy is now.
and they need to stop putting all the money into SUVs i know they sell but what if gas goes to $5 a gallon? then need to make other cars that get good fuel economy, but are still good RWD cars like the B-body. make it a RWD car once again. IMO
sorry i didnt see daves post.

I found this on businessweek.com---
"And top executives have at least discussed the notion of paring down GM's portfolio of brands, though that is a costly and difficult option that few see happening anytime soon. While Buick is on the list, it's one of GM's premium brands in China, so it's unlikely to be closed. If GM decides to cut a brand, Saab and Pontiac would top the list."
Hopefully they'll kill Saab before they cut Pontiac. The article made it sound as if it's not a question of "if", but rather a question of "when".

Yeah they should stop spending so much time on cup holders and spend more time on the shit that matters. :jest: Have you ever notice how many cup holders GM vehicle have. My 99 T/a had 4. Most SUV's have that may.
