Default Bremerton Today?

Is anyone else headed up to Bremerton to try to get a few runs before the rain hits?

I was going to, but went the PR last 2 times they were open and 0 traction since adding the stall, so will wait on getting some Nitto's.

Speaking of tracks, is there any other type of track or circuit where we could go and just drive as fast as we wanted to? I mean, 1/4 mile is all good, but you go to little over 100mph and have to pull the foot off the pedal.

What I like is going through corners, big streches, corners again, etc... This way it's not only about the car, but the driver too, and it's FUN, IMHO of course.

They have lapping days at Pacific... can't really go as fast as you want, more like as fast as your car can handle going into the corners.

As for the drag strip, it is much more about the driver than you think... the faster your car is capable of going, the more difficult it becomes to get it to that point. For instance, my car is fully capable of hitting 11s... but so far, the driver hasn't been as capable.

Ever been to the dragstrip Nick?? It is all about the driver. Reaction times are what wins and loses races. Gotta cut a good light.

Plus the M6 guys have their work cut out for them with the starting line clutch dump and rowing through the gears without missing one.

Road Track days at SIR looks to be a blast. I'm going to hopefully do that before summers over, along with the many trips to the dragstrips.

It was great seeing people out at the track today! Bremerton was way off thier game and I only made 3 passes. Traction was even worse! Oh Man!

Mr Turbo Camaro only made a best of 11.69 with a SPINNING 1.989 60'! The MPH was a nice consistent 122 (except for the first pass).

The Video will be up shortly.

And Crisisman I was just kidding about selling your tape to the insurance company! LOL If you want me to post it, I can.

Also saw Matt, and rotwiler (don't give up man, get some better tires!). Thanks Matt for taking the video!

Impressive times again, Ryan.

Nick, I have my driving school at PIR on Tuesday and will let you know how it is. From what I understand, you will have to take this class if you want to participate in a lapping day event. I could be wrong but would highly suggest it anyway. I would not want to be on the track with anyone that had not taken it.

I'd love to have a copy of any footage of me you've got Ryan! Thanks. I wish I had been introduced to Matt and Rotweiler as well. Was one of you the other silver camaro?

As for my times...well...as Ryan said, the track was completely unprepped and traction stank. I was also running 89 octane(trying to save a bit on the high gas prices). In spite of that I managed to trim my time down a bit to 14.661. My third run was my best launch and 1/8 mile, but I missed my 3-4 shift and bogged at the end. I was on pace for about a 14.4

Also, the last run of the night, just for fun I ran with traction control on. It cost me a full second finishing at 15.518. So, any newbies who wonder how much of a difference it really makes...now you know!

On the really positive side, my r/t improved dramatically coming in at .365, .218, .169 and on the last run .081!!!

I'm planning on taking the driving class there on 1 August(the Z car club said I could tag along...they have to have someone they can beat up on).

Nick it sounds like you need to do a track day. Gotta start out by doing the school like Eric is doing though. PR is much to technical of a track to turn a rookie loose on let me tell you On the front straight, depending on sack size 125-135 mph speeds are the norm for bolt on LS1 cars. If you want to go faster than that then follow us down to an ORR event. We're going in August.

Ryan,
I noticed your traps have gone up 3-4 mph. What did you do up the boost ? Are you running race gas ? Anyway those are some nice runs, congrats it gives us all something to shoot for !

Very nice guys! Good to know that there's some other places to try. I didn't mean to say the drag strip isn't about the driver... I phrased the post wrong - I have a lot of respect for all that go there, and while I really like watching it on TV I'm not really into taking my car there.

BUT.... on the other side I would really like to check out the lapping day event. When I was a kid I was always going to go-kart races and later on I was always racing against my friends on outdoor karts and boy that was fun!

Racehead I agree... 135 at the end of the straight calls for nice brakes and ***** and attended classes too. As a F1 fanatic that's the kinda stuff I like...

Eric let me know how the class went.
