Default Does Absolute Speed etch numbers on their heads?

Well I've had a 99 SS that I bought already moded. The owner told me it had Absolute 5.3 stage 2 heads. The cast numbers showed that the heads are realy 5.7 heads, so right away I assumed he lied and they are stock heads, b but a buddy of mine that has worked on a few ls1's just looked at them and told me that they are indeed ported. The front of them are shiny, unlike the rest of the heads, and below the casting numbers theres about 14 or 15 numbers etched in the head below. These would the numbers that the porter etched in them, right? I have tryed to contact Jay at Absolute Speed and see if the numbers can actually tell me what stage they are, or if they are indeed his heads, but I dont think I have a working e-mail address.

You cant get in touch with Jay because he dissapeared off the face of the earth and ripped a LOT of people on this board off in the process. As far as the numbers etched in the heads, mine dont have any.

mine have a bunch of number etched on the sides such as "S 2" among some other stuff. they too are 5.7 liter head. They have been ported and polished. I took some footage of them next to my stock heads and it looks ridiculous. Also these heads were on a 408 motor and when they were taken off and some stage III heads were put on the 408, it only gained 20 hp. Also the new heads were a 6.0 liter head with ls6 style chambers

Can you post the footage that you took of the heads next to each other. I also have a set of " 5.3 stage 2" heads for Absolute Speed. I wanted to get in touch with jay to get some flow numbers but no luck. I'm trying to have a 408 built and it looks like I'm going to have to use those heads for a little bit so I guess only losing 20hp was better than I had thought.

Yeah, the stage 2 5.7's I had had a 6 digit number stamped on one end of each head.

Those numbers that are computer 'etched' in the exhaust flange of the head below the casting number are done by GM. Also, just because the front is shiny doesn't mean anything. Mine are shiny and are bone stock.

You won't be able to tell if they're ported unless you pull the intake and look for your self.
