Default need help... elec. fuel psi gauge???

this may be a strange question but if it is answerable or has been done I will find out from you guys.....
I need an electrical fuel pressure gauge and the only one I could find to match is $185, but I can get ahold of a matching elect. oil psi gauge for peanuts and have a spare sender... I'm wondering if instead of oil going to the sender if you put fuel to it would the elect. oil gauge read the right psi???... I thought about maybe a seal problem w/ the sender but I think if it can handle oil and the case is metal anyway it shouldnt matter... is the elect. fuel psi gauges just a scam...
