anyone in here with 3.73 gears?

If you "blaze" the tires, you need a suspension beefup.
I have an 01 Z28 with a Y3000 2.0 STR, coupled to 3.73:1 rearend gears. My entire rear suspension has been replaced with BMR components, with SLP subframe connectors. From a dead stop, if I floor it, I will screech the tires, and then go from Farfetnugen to Fukenmovin.
With just 3.73's (before the converter) with the above stated suspenion, I would just get a light chirp.
You are only turning + 500 RPM from the stock 3.23.

Thats actually top advice SteveC. I run a stock converter and 3.73 and from a dig with no stalling I can launch fine - just holds on. Stall it and, well, as SteveC said, I need a drag setup.
I think you and I have a very similar setup SteveC. When I get my custom 3000/2.0STR converter my wheelspin issues from a dig might become a little more promounced.

I had trouble hooking on street tires, so I went with 3.42's, better top end, semi better gas mileage, and got a stall in it. Also I'm able to use nitrous in 2nd gear longer, and all the way through 3rd, so all in all my cars actually faster with them in. And quiet, thank god.

I can roast my BFG drag radials on the street from a stop, I let off after about 200 yards one day. From a roll at about 40mph they will still break free if they're at street pressure. I have to be at about 55mph to get traction is I mash it to the floor. Top end...it pulls like a bitch until 150mph.

I have the Precision 3.73's. I love them. Definitely a difference over the stock 3.23's. I used to only light my street tires up in first, then had a slight chirp into second. With the gears, headers, TD's, and and a tune, I can absolutely incinerate street tires in 1st, 2nd, and chirp 3rd sometimes. I have Nittos DRs on there now, and even with them warm, I can spin 1st and peel out going into 2nd pretty good.
From a roll, I noticed a big difference in how the car pulls. I used to have people get the jump on me and then have to reel them in, now I jump out in front and steadily pull away from most cars that're a close match to mine. I did notice that it doesn't seem to pull quite as hard above 120 as the 3.23's but most of my races are over by then.

I've heard that the Motives are good too, really the most important thing is to find someone who knows how to set them up properly. I had a guy do it locally who has done literally hundreds of Camaro gear swaps.

Well I have 3.73 and they pull 120mph in the 1/4 and used a gps to check top speed let out at 152mph I got scared. I love my 3.73 great for street and strip racing.
