Just sprayed the 150rwhp shot- Need advice.
I posted this in the truck performance section and got some advice but I am still searching on what my problem may be.
Last saturday I took my truck out to spray the 150rwhp shot. ( 62/35 Jets)
As soon as I started to spray I heard detonation and I let out of it. It sounded like popcorn. I have the Tr6's already in there gapped at .38.
I am still running on the stock fuel pump however. I was wondering what should I do to stop the detonation? So far I am thinking about putting a 38 size jet on the fuel side of my wet kit. Also the bottle pressure was at 750 psi.

It was probably popping from being WAY too rich. I don't know exactly why it can do that, but I had it happen once on my car when I was running around 800psi on a 100 shot. I didn't hear it inside my car, but I had a couple spectators asking me what the popping was. Get your bottle pressure up to 1100 or so (what NX recommends) and try jetting it for a 75 or 100 shot and see what happens.
Of course, check your plugs before you spray any more. You could have farked up a couple plugs if it indeed WAS detonation.

I have sprayed a 125 crank horsepower shot before. I have sprayed probably about 15 bottles with that with no problem. Even when I had 700 psi in the bottle you could still feel it spraying. I had no detonation with that shot at all.
Im trying to run this shot the most safely I can. Next step is either gapping the plugs to a .32 and Cam 2 (110 octane).

Your nitrous kit has a recommended pressure for both the nitrous and the fuel to be at. By not running enough bottle pressure it will create a rich situation and not enough fuel will make it lean. Both are very harmful to your engine. You might need a bottle heater to get up the pressure. I THINK NX recommends 950 - 1000 psi on there kits. And the reason why you didnt hear any detonation with the smaller shots is because they dont spray out as much fuel as the 150 jet and your truck just couldnt handle all that extra fuel without the nitrous.

So you think with more pressure in the bottle that it wont do this ?
I am not running the hypertech tune with this shot. I am using the 87 octane tune with 93 octane gas. Just use the hypertech for rev limiter, shift points, etc.
So you think with 900 psi I wont have this problem ?
Z284u2try- I have no fuel upgrades. I have stock fuel pump.

What kind of kit do you have? NOS jetting is for 950 psi, NX is 1050 psi. I have NX and was told 62/35 for a 150 shot, that ended up being too lean for my application, so I went with the 150 nitrous jet (62) and the 175 fuel jet (41). That ended up being too rich (low 10:1 AFR) for my taste. I wish I had a 38 fuel jet. As you know from our previous conversations I'm running my kit on my stock fuel system and haven't had any problems yet. But that is my truck, yours could be different. Definitely need to scan it and see what's going on.

cam2 is leaded... wouldn't advise running it unless you have O2's that can handle it.
