Question ordering moser 12" best ratio ??

what is the best ratio to pick 3.42 ,3.73. or 4.1s most imprtant thing is top speed . i have 3.42 and i like it so much in top end in 5th gear i did 186 mph last week . if i switched to 3.73 or 4.1s i will not be able to get that in the 5th but hope that the 6th will pick up and pull but the ratio o fthe 6th is .5 that is too weak to pull . what do u y'all????? need you experince here...

I would go with the 4.10s with a M6 car. That is the best all around gearing.
Good luck with the Moser.

Another vote for 4.10.

Go for the 4.10, because if you spend much more time at 186 mph you may not survive to enjoy the speed. But strictly speaking, the lower ratio 3.42 now on your car should allow higher top end speed.

Good luck, and check those tires.

I'm the oddball and vote for 3.73's, at least on minor bolt on cars.. I just wanted to a little more gear to get rid of that "dead spot" in 1st at low speed rolls. and 3.73's were just the slight amount I wanted. I didn't want a big change.

well, since top speed is your main concern, if you look up some math equations or ask around some more, you could try to figure out your theoretical top speed with the amount of hp you have.

Then you can calculate, with tire height, rpm, and gear, what final gear ratio should get you there.

Althought I wonder if there is any strength issues with the t56 in 6th gear.. as in the tq/hp capcity of the t56's 6th gear..

I'd be really careful about doing alot of highspeed runs, its really stressful to the car, becase you are approaching max rpm under maximum load over a relatively long period of time, at max speed..
