Throttle body mod
I was reading about the throttle body bumpstop mod ( with the Dremel ) and I was just wondering; why did GM make it impossible for the throttle blade to go wide open (aka 90 deg) ?
Im thinking of doing this mod but I just wonder why it didnt come that way from the factory, is there a downside?

The reason the TB doesnt come that way is the same reason they do not come ported. They are cast and machined to be in tolerance- what ever that may be- from TB to TB. There is no down side unless you take too much off

no, but every little bit counts right?
porting it will add significant hp. half-shafting it will likely improve part-throttle airflow. but the bumpstop isn't gonna be noticed on the rollers.
