Wouldn't be a bad idea, but I think you'll find that the stock cats are a somewhat propritary design, so finding an aftermarket high-flow cat that will bolt right up could be difficult, if not impossible.
I could be wrong, though.

Your bad cat is still probably under warranty. If memory serves correctly, the warranty on emissions items are 8 years without regard to mileage. I had a factory cat replaced long after the rest of the warranty was long gone. While they were at it, they replaced both since I pointed out that the 2 sides of the exhaust wouldn't flow the same with 1 old cat and 1 new cat.
