Default How bad can a 15-30mph head wind hurt you.

I took my car to the track today and the wind was howling. Mostly a head wind but some time 3/4 head on. I made two passes and called it a day. Both passes were done on street tires, full weight, slipping stock clutch.

Pass 1.
2.10--------------60ft
8.35 @ 89.36-----1/8
12.68 @ 115.00---1/4

Pass 2
2.09--------------60ft
8.36 @ 89.68-----1/8
12.71 @ 114.33---1/4

It looks to me that the second pass should have been around 115.5 going off of the 1/8 mph. The wind was seriously gusting on the second pass though. I lost about 3/4 of a mph on the big end. I was also wondering if it is normal for a M6 LS1 to pick up 25mph on the big end. For the top end mph I should be running around 92mph in the 1/8. Can any one shed any light on my situation. The car made 383/374 at the wheels.

All depends on your powerband and gearing. I pick up 26.5mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4 due to small stall and high powerband with my cam combo and 4.11s (90-->116.3)

No. It is a local track here in North Carolina. It just has small hills on three sides and channels all the wind right down the track.

We had the same situation going on up here at milan. Oh well I wasn't expecting anything great from my car anyways . Stock clutch isn't happy anymore. 12.7 @ 110 w/ 1.92 sixty. 25-30mph headwinds here too.

figure each 5 mph headwind is 2-4 hundredths depending on combo and wind resistance. you're still going 115 mph into a wind at 12.70? That's an easy mid 11 second car with traction and a good clutch.
