You guys always talk about good drivers getting better times. What exactly is a good driver, especially with an automatic. When I am at the drag strip in my 91z28, I run 8.9x-9.xx in the 1/8 mile and im an auto. I start in 1st and shift manually, is there some kind of way to get better times out of my car. I shift at about 4800..

A good driver is someone that can drill the tree and run his number everytime down the track. The KEY is PRACTICE!

Dont shift your car manually, unless you have manual valvebody.

Yup.... knowing the car, the track... and how weather affects it.
Slight tire psi changes too
But.... practice is the key!

r/t, where to stall the car up to (depending on track conditions), finding the grove, staying in the grove, and being a safe experienced driver if there is a bad situation.
practice is everything. dont manually shift. it will slow you down assuming your tranny running correctly.
