Default Explain the Vats system to me

How the heck does it work?
does it cut fuel, spark, or stop the car from cranking over?

Yes, no, yes.

The PCM needs to see the correct (50Hz square wave) signal from the BCM that the right resistance key is in the cylinder, otherwise no fuel injector pulses, and the starter relay is not engaged. IIRC, for each event with the wrong key, a 10 minute wait period is required before the BCM will reset.

So if the car rolls over but does not start then it is something other than the vats system correct? Or can one part work and the other not, meaning the vats disables the injector pulse but it still rolls over.
