Default About to buy 98 T/A with 3.73's - advice?

Hi, I found a local car that seems to be in great shape - I will have my mechanic take a look at it before I buy it though.

It's a red 98 T/A, M6, hurst shifter, K&N with 3.73 gears. I drove the car and everything seems fine. The gears do have a little whine, but you can't even hear it with the radio on.

My mechanic will pretty much dictate weather or not I buy the car, but I am slightly worried about the gears given the very slight whine. The owner says he's had them for 2 years and the whine never got any worse. Any advice on this would be appreciated!

Richmond brand gears are known to whine a little.

OK - I don't mind the little whine, as long as it doesn't represent mechanical problems down the road!

Stock gears will whine. A little noise is normal. The 3.46's in my GTO whine and there's only 4400 miles on 'em.
